Dick's Corral

When I was a kid and we still lived in Arlington Heights, IL, Mom worked at a restaurant called Dick's Corral. She enjoyed it and the extra money came in handy. My dad wasn't too crazy about the idea of her working though--especially in the uniform she had to wear. It wasn't revealing, but she looked good in it. Mom wore a fake leather skirt that came right below her knees, a cowboy hat, white blouse and a holster with a pearl-handled pistol. Very cool.

One time she got a $5.00 tip from a friendly couple. That was quite a large chunk of change in the early 1960s.
